Baby Tie Pacifier Holder Part 2
How to sew the tie together. You can make the pattern longer to make a full tie. I choose to make an elastic band with Velcro for the neck part and the tie wraps around the elastic. You can also thread the tie through a pacifier clip to make a clip on tie.
I used 2 fat quarters of printed fabric and white muslin for the backing of the ties.
Small elastic 1/4″ for the pacifier holder part 4″ each
3/4″ elastic for the neck-band the measurement of the child’s neck.
Velcro or a button to close the elastic. You can sew the elastic in a full circle with no closure if you like.
Basic sewing supplies
Cut out your pattern
One for the print side and one for the backing. I made two ties one in each color.
Layer right-sides together backing facing the print on the fabric.
Stitch a .25″ seam allowance back-stitching the corners.
Be sure to leave an opening on one side of the shorter end of the tie. You will turn out the tie and insert the pacifier elastic in this point.
Turn out and iron flat.
Cut the .25″ elastic in a 4″ length.
Fold in half and insert in to the open end of the tie. Top stitch the tie closed being sure to back-stitch over the elastic.
Fold the tie in half length wise and stitch along the length.
Turn the tie right side out.
Iron the Tie flat.
Measure your neck elastic and cut.
Cut 2″ or 3″ of Velcro and hand stitch it to the elastic. You can use a sewing machine just work slowly because the thread likes to tangle with the loops in the Velcro. Do not use sticky Velcro in the machine it will be a mess of loops and birds nests. Believe me I know!!!!
Tie the tie to the neck piece and you are ready to go. Tie the tie the same way you would tie a regular tie.
