Chocolate Dipped Spoons and Peppermint Sticks
This is one of my favorite Holiday Goodies. There is not much better than a warm cup of cocoa or coffee on a cold winter evening. Unless you have one of these yummy chocolate dipped Peppermint sticks to stir your drink. The spoons are a fantastic start to a cocoa bar for a party or as an addition to a teachers gift.
The fun of this DIY is that you can use any Chocolate you want. You can use any topping or no topping at all. I tried to cover a few options for you in this recipe. You can dip spoons, peppermint sticks, candy canes or use small cups and Popsicle sticks.
Make sure to cover the work area with parchment paper. The parchment keeps the chocolate from sticking to anything other than the spoon etc.
Melt your chocolate following the package instructions. It the chocolate is clumpy add a teaspoon of vegetable oil at a time until it is smooth. A little oil goes a long way.
Once melted and smooth remove the chocolate from the heat. Dip the spoon. Make sure you cover the spoon well. carefully shake the excess chocolate off of the spoon.
If you want more chocolate let the first dip dry and dip again. This is a great way to layer flavors of chocolate.
Add your Toppings.
I crushed peppermint (The ones that broke when trying to get the wrappers off.) I used marshmallows, sprinkles, mint chocolate chunks, and Cinnamon toppings.
Lay out the spoons and peppermint sticks to set for an hour or so. If you use sheet pans you can put them in the fridge and they will set up more quickly.
Remember to add the toppings while the chocolate is still warm.
You can wrap them in cellophane or use snack size baggies. I Keep mine in an airtight container in the fridge until I need them.
These make a great addition to a holiday hot cocoa bar and Kids love dipping, so they can help.
You can always use one of my holiday printable cards or labels.
