Today’s Whipped Body Butter Recipe is a favorite. I like whipped lotions because they feel less thick and absorb more quickly than the every day lotion. I like making it myself because I know exactly what I put in it.  Three simple ingredients and super moisturized and soft skin.

Recipe:

1/4 cup Coconut oil
1/4 cup Shea butter
20 drops Essential oil

Melt the coconut oil and shea butter over low heat. Add in the essential oil. 20 drops is usually needed. Add more or less to your desired scent. Mix well.

Let the oil/pan cool slightly then put in freezer for 20 to 30 minutes.

Test the solidity of the mixture by pressing into the top. The mixture should be semi solid and indent when you press it with your finger.

Whip with your hand mixer. You can use a stand mixer but I like the hand mixer better.

Whip the mixture for 5 minutes until creamy and fluffy.

The mixture will double in volume as you whip it up.

Fill an air tight container with the body butter. The body butter will lightly firm up as it comes to room temp. I like using 4 oz and 8 oz jars for storage.

Print and cut out the labels for the jars. Write your scent on the label.

Ingredients

Instructions
  1. Melt coconut oil and shea butter over low heat.
  2. Add 20 drops of essential oil. (More or less to get the scent intensity you want.)
  3. Mix well and let the pan cool slightly. Put in freezer for 20 to 30 minutes.
  4. Let the melted mixture firm up. Press your finger on to the mixture if the mixture is soft semi solid move to the next step.
  5. With a hand mixer whip the semi solid mixture for 5 minutes.
  6. The mixture will double in volume and become a creamy while.
  7. Store in an airtight container. The body butter will firm more as is sits.
